I am an economist with an interest in labor economics and econometrics, applying mathematics and programming to my work on wage determinants and worker mobility. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Economics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, where I have been since 2021, working under the supervision of Atanas Christev and Cristina Tealdi. My research focuses on macroeconomics and the question of what determines wages. I investigate this question in three papers, applying concepts from search theory, monopsony and leveraging large administrative data sets.
Before coming to Edinburgh, I studied Monetary, Banking and Financial Economics at the University of Minho in Portugal. I was awarded the Excellence Award for Academic Merits, 2017/2018 and a National Award for Academic Merits, 2018/2019. My Msc thesis on interactions between financial constraints and economic growth was published in The North American Journal of Economics and Finance (coauthored with Assis Azevedo, Pedro Cunha Neves, Maria Thompson, 2023).
My teaching experience includes teaching introductory economics and macroeconomics to undergraduate students.
